Elements of Photography
Project Overview
We are going to plan a photography shoot to photograph the members in our group, or a subject. We also plan to photograph murals, scenery, etc. and use the photography session to learn about different techniques and methods used by professional photographers. We will use the photos we take and transfer them into a powerpoint where we explain the different techniques and our process.
Project Duration
Two weeks (from May 16th to the 30th)
Essential Questions
How can we use photography to express what we learned about the skills and technique of professional photographers?
How can we use photography to create a meaningful powerpoint and teach others more about professional photography?
Objectives
- Taking quality pictures of the group members/murals/scenery that represent the songs we record
- Create a detailed powerpoint featuring the photography shoot pictures
Final Product
- Powerpoint with complete photography and descriptions of photo techniques and the process of this project.
Habits of Heart and Mind
Self-Advocacy-the action of representing oneself or one's views or interests.
Throughout this project, we will need to be confident in our passions and represent our views and interests through the art we create.
Unlimited Potential-having the ability or the capability to go above and beyond;to be able to grow and expand through something and learn from your experience
We will need to have unlimited potential throughout this project because we will take our creativity to the next level and use this experience to expand our creativity. We can also use this project to think of other ways we can be expressive in the form of photography.
Common Core Standards
Select standards from here http://www.corestandards.org/ELA-Literacy/
-Make strategic use of digital media (e.g., textual, graphical, audio, visual, and interactive elements) to enhance understanding of findings, reasoning, and evidence and to add interest.
We will do this by researching certain skills photographers have that we could acquire for our photo shoot.
-Determine the meaning of words and phrases as they are used in a text, including figurative, connotative, and technical meanings; analyze the cumulative impact of specific word choices on meaning and tone.
Our group will use this common core standard while we are writing our power point.
-Determine an author's point of view or purpose in a text and analyze how an author uses rhetoric to advance that point of view or purpose
While researching photography, we will look at the author’s (photographer’s) perspective and use that to inspire our own.
Challenge Option Ideas
- Before the photography session on the beach/in La jolla, color coordinate clothes, or somehow coordinate appearance.
- Have certain guidelines planned out for different lighting and angles that photographers would use for portraits/group pictures.
