The symbolic hand self portrait was the first piece of the semester and kind of our introduction into the class. It helped us to ponder different aspects of ourselves and express them through a simple art piece. For my symbolic self portrait, I decided to outline two sketches of my hand and interlock them to represent family/friends. I also used simple words in a bold font at the top to fill some empty space and represent me. My name is hidden in the four rings being worn by the hand on the right, and I used two other rings for embellishment on the left hand. I used multiple colors on the bottom below the hands and dripped them down the page using water to create a pop of color.
